Hair Extension Care

So, you finally made the plunge and got the hair of your DREAMS! Now let us help you take care of them so they can look their best and lengthen their life.

Here are a few tips we have for you:

Invest in good product.

Let’s face it, quality hair extensions are expensive- so why would you take care of them with drug store product? Using a specifically formulated shampoo, hair mask, conditioner, oil and hydration spray will help them to last for much longer. We recommend Balmain hair products to help keep the quality and health of your extensions up.

Use oil daily.

Apply oil to the mid and ends of your extensions daily. This will help keep them from becoming brittle and breaking.

No hard water, please!

Purchase a water filter for your shower head to help maintain color and quality of your hair. You can purchase one on amazon for under $35.

Blow-dry the tops!

Always blow dry the top/ root area of your extensions. This will help keep the hair from dreading or overly tangling.

Brush, brush, brush.

Brush your hair several times a day with a wet brush or extension brush to keep it tangle free.

Sleep Care

Always sleep in a low ponytail or braid to avoid dreads from appearing.

Sunscreen

Avoid sunscreen, self-tanner and makeup from getting on your extensions, as it can cause staining. Keep an eye out for sunscreens with Avobenzene as it can turn extensions pink. Try using mineral sunscreen only.

Move-ups are key.

Be sure to never miss a move up. Hair should typically be moved up every 5-8 weeks, depending on your stylist’s recommendation for you.

No relaxing.

Avoid Brazilian Blowouts, bleaching, perms and relaxers on your extension.

Ponytails

Try to avoid wearing your extensions on top of your head, in a tight pony, this can cause plucking or your sides to slip.

Heat Protection

Use a heat protection spray on your extensions before using hot tools on them.

“Before I started coming to Emi I had never actually been in love with my hair after leaving a salon, but now I am obsessed.

She is so talented and patient, willing to do what it takes to get the exact look you want.”
